About Our Assistant Principal

Dear Little Fort Elementary School Families,

It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that I write to you all as the new Assistant Principal of Little Fort Elementary School.  I am honored to have the opportunity to join the Little Fort family and support Mrs. Grossman in continuing to grow this amazing school community.  I know I am joining a strong school culture dedicated to teaching the whole student and supporting each child’s academic and social-emotional growth.  I aim to enhance these characteristics through the collective knowledge and creativity of our students, staff, and families.

The 2022-2023 school year will mark my ninth year in education where I have been a Special Education teacher working across a myriad of grades and in many different facets.  I started my career in education as a substitute teacher and later became a teaching assistant at a neighboring middle school. It was here that my passion for teaching was solidified and I returned to school to become a Special Education teacher.  I served as a Special Education resource teacher in North Chicago working with students in third through fifth grade and most recently, have spent the past eight years at Grayslake North High School where I was an instructional teacher, co-teacher, case manager, and coach.  My academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Business Administration from Augustana College, a Master of Arts in Teaching in Special Education from National Louis University, and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Northeastern Illinois University.

Outside of work, I am the proud father of two beautiful children. My oldest son, Graham (9), will be entering 4th grade and my younger daughter, Quinn (4), will attend school next school year.  I am married to my wonderful wife, Asilinn, and we just recently celebrated our ten-year anniversary this July.

As the Assistant Principal, I will work diligently with our faculty, staff, and community to carry out the mission and vision of Little Fort Elementary School.  This role will provide me the opportunity to work collaboratively with teachers on a daily basis, while also remaining connected to our students' growth and learning that takes place in the classroom.  Diversity and inclusion are pillars of my personal educational mantra.  I am committed to continuous professional growth and ensuring educational equity and access for all of our students.

I look forward to building partnerships between home and school to continue to inspire confidence in our students to shape their future and the future of their community and world.  During the course of the year, it is my hope that we will work together to provide our students with the best opportunities.  As Assistant Principal, my door is always open and I welcome your conversation and collaboration throughout this year.  I look forward to celebrating our collective successes during the 2022-2023 school year.

Warm Regards,
