Two Waukegan High School senior musicians have been selected to participate in the prestigious Illinois Music Education Association’s All-State Concerts series later this month.
Students in the All-State ensembles represent the best student musicians in Illinois. Students submitted video auditions to play in the prestigious concert alongside several other student musicians from across the state earlier this year.
Waukegan students selected include Gustavo Astudillo, Tenor Sax, All-State Honors Jazz Band, and Evelyn Burgos, Soprano II, All-State Chorus.
Both students participated in the ILMEA District Festivals earlier this school year, and were selected into ILMEA’s All-State Student Programs.
Gustavo will perform during Jazz Night Concert on Friday, January 26, and Evelyn will perform
The All-State Chorus Concert, on Saturday, January 27. Both performances will be held in the Peoria Civic Center. Each of these ensembles will be led by distinguished conductors and educators from across the country.
The All-State Student Programs run concurrently with the Illinois Music Education Conference, the premier professional development opportunity for music educators in Illinois.
