Five Waukegan High School student musicians were recently chosen to participate in the Illinois Music Education Association District 7 Music Festivals.

Students submitted video auditions to play in the prestigious concert alongside several other northeastern Illinois student musicians earlier this year. The five WHS students who were selected to play in the festivals include:

Guadalupe Ramirez: Oboe, Senior Band

Evelyn Burgos:  Soprano, Senior Chorus

Elia Dejesus:  Violin, Senior Orchestra

Gustavo Astudillo: Tenor Sax, Senior Jazz Band I 

Fernando Flores IV: Trombone, Senior Jazz Band IV

Guadalupe, Evelyn, and Elia performed at the Music Festival on November 4 at Glenbrook South High School. Gustavo and Fernando will perform at the District 7 Jazz Festival on Saturday, November 18 at Lake Zurich High School.
