Action Items

The Board of Education voted to approve the Annual Resolution for Waiver of Facilities Use Fees for Certain Non-Profits. This Resolution will establish an efficient means of granting annual facilities-use fee waivers to non-profit organizations who use District facilities on a regular basis. The Resolution anticipates periodic renewal or amendments (to include other parties) through a simple follow-up Resolution.  This most current Resolution includes the addition of "City of Waukegan Pageant."

The Board of Education voted to approve  mechanical improvements at John Lewis Middle School and Miguel Juarez Middle School, to be performed by McDonough Mechanical Services at a cost of $91,509. The Operations Department has worked with a local contractor, McDonough Mechanical, to help troubleshoot some air conditioning concerns that are recurring in District 60. At John Lewis Middle School several issues exist with the chiller, requiring $60,130 in parts and labor.  A proposal for this work is attached and the new condensing units will take several weeks to procure. At Juarez Middle School there are some issues with the chiller, requiring $31,379 in parts and labor.

The Board of Education voted to approve a resolution designating select personnel to complete Open Meetings Act training, consistent with the Open Meetings Act.

The Board of Education voted to ratify the contract with Raymond James Financial Services, Inc. and approve the ongoing use of Raymond James Financial Services for this annual filing.



Personnel Items

The Board of Education voted to approve the hiring of one additional Courtesy Officer at the Lincoln Center Building. The Department of Crisis Intervention and Safety is requesting an additional full time Courtesy Officer at the Lincoln Center Building.  This position will report to the Crisis Intervention and Safety department and will be a 12-month position.  Per the paraprofessional collective bargaining agreement the salary range could be $34,055.28 to $65,291.76, depending on district longevity of who is hired for the position.  The Switchboard Operator who is currently seated in the main lobby of Lincoln Center will be relocated, but there will be no loss of functionality or ability to assist visitors with the additional Courtesy Officer.  The Administration has met with the WPSS and Paraprofessional Unions to ensure there are no concerns with this plan. There are no prior MOUs that address this need.

The Board of Education voted to approve the retirements, recitations and appointments of 88 employees. 

The Board of Education voted to uphold the Superintendent's decision and deny the appeal of Uniform Grievance Complaint Case # 2022-E/E-06, lodged by Complainant Employee #16383 under Board Policy 2110.

The Board of Education voted to uphold the Superintendent's decision and deny the appeal of Uniform Grievance Complaint # 2022- E/E-05 lodged by Complainant Employee 4110 under Board Policy 2110.



Financial Items

The Board of Education held a public hearing on its proposed budget for FY22/23. Following the hearing, the Board voted to approve the budget totaling $332,351,072.


The Board of Education voted to authorize the Treasurer to increase the value of the current Treasurer's Bond and to cancel all other surety bonds through West Insurance Agency, and then complete and file all necessary documents with the Lake County Regional Office of Education at a cost not to exceed $26,000.
