Dear Colleagues and Families: 

Yesterday evening our Board of Education voted to extend my contract as Superintendent of Schools through the 2026-2027 school year. I am humbled by this decision, and I am excited to continue the important work of educating our community’s children.

Six years ago we collaborated with the Board of Education to create a vision for the future of this District, and I am very proud of what we’ve accomplished over that time. These improvements have required an enormous effort from each facet of our District, from our dedicated Board of Education, teachers, support staff, safety, operations team, and each of our administrators. I am blessed to work with a team of such passionate and dedicated professionals. 

Our District is full of dedicated, wonderful educators who care about their students.  Our classrooms are full of intelligent, hard-working, eager students with the capacity to learn and become anything they want to be. I am committed to this district and community, and promise that we will continue to put our students first in our work.

While we have done much to improve the support and instruction our students receive, as well as the environments that they learn in, we still have many opportunities for improvement.  The pandemic has  exacerbated many of the challenges our District already faced, and we will work to address these challenges together.

Over these next five years, our team will be focusing on several key areas. You have my commitment that we will continue to prioritize safe, comfortable and innovative working and learning environments. We will continue to work toward improving student achievement, and build upon our existing academic successes. We will continue to create leadership avenues for staff, while promoting professional development and growth. We intend to do this while continuing to be conscious of our spending, and easing the burden on our local taxpayers. 

As a District 60 parent and Superintendent I know this community is committed to making Waukegan Public Schools a better place for all of our children. I am honored to be leading this charge, and look forward to our growth and successes over the next few years.

Estimados Colegas y Familias:

Ayer por la noche, nuestra Mesa Directiva de Educación votó para extender mi contrato como Superintendente de Escuelas hasta el año escolar 2026-2027. Me siento honrada por esta decisión y estoy emocionada de continuar el importante trabajo de educar a los niños de nuestra comunidad.

Hace seis años colaboramos con la Mesa Directiva de Educación para crear una visión para el futuro de este Distrito y estoy muy orgullosa de lo que hemos logrado durante ese tiempo. Estas mejoras han requerido un enorme esfuerzo de cada faceta de nuestro Distrito, de nuestra dedicada Mesa Directiva de Educación, maestros, personal de apoyo, seguridad, equipo de operaciones y cada uno de nuestros administradores. Tengo la suerte de trabajar con un equipo de profesionales tan apasionados y dedicados.

Nuestro Distrito está lleno de educadores maravillosos y dedicados que se preocupan por sus estudiantes. Nuestros salones están llenos de estudiantes inteligentes, trabajadores y entusiastas con la capacidad de aprender y convertirse en lo que quieran ser. Estoy comprometida con este distrito y la comunidad, y prometo que continuaremos dando prioridad a nuestros estudiantes en nuestro trabajo.

Aunque hemos hecho mucho para mejorar el apoyo y la instrucción que reciben nuestros estudiantes, así como los entornos en los que aprenden, todavía tenemos muchas oportunidades para mejorar. La pandemia ha exacerbado muchos de los desafíos que nuestro Distrito ya enfrentaba, y trabajaremos para abordar estos desafíos juntos.

Durante estos próximos cinco años, nuestro equipo se centrará en varias áreas clave. Tienen mi compromiso de que continuaremos priorizando entornos de trabajo y de aprendizaje seguros, cómodos e innovadores. Continuaremos trabajando para mejorar el rendimiento estudiantil y construir sobre nuestros éxitos académicos existentes. Continuaremos creando vías de liderazgo para el personal, mientras promovemos el desarrollo y crecimiento profesional. Tenemos la intención de hacer esto sin dejar de ser conscientes de nuestros gastos, y aliviar la carga de nuestros contribuyentes locales.

Como madre y como Superintendente del Distrito 60, sé que esta comunidad está comprometida a hacer de las Escuelas Públicas de Waukegan un lugar mejor para todos nuestros niños. Me siento honrada de liderar este cargo y espero con entusiasmo nuestro crecimiento y éxitos en los próximos años.
