Waukegan’s Cooke Magnet Elementary School and Lyon Magnet Elementary School have begun the process for accepting new students for the 2022-2023 school year.  Details for both schools can be found below.

COOKE MAGNET

Cooke Magnet School is now accepting applications for new student entrance testing for the 2022-2023 school year, for students entering kindergarten through grade 5. Limited enrollment opportunities are available for students entering grades 1-5. 

Parents/ guardians of prospective Cooke students can begin the application process here.  All applications are due by March 28. Following registration, parents will begin to receive information about student entrance screenings. 

Students already enrolled at Cooke do not need to reapply. Any questions regarding the application process should be directed to [email protected].

LYON MAGNET
The fall registration period for enrollment in Lyon Magnet School has begun. Enrollment is open to all students entering kindergarten through grade 5 living within the district's attendance boundaries. Families interested in enrolling in Lyon Magnet are required to submit an application, which can be found at the school, can be downloaded here or you can submit using this online form.

Applications can be emailed ([email protected]) or turned in at the school. The deadline to submit completed applications is Monday, April 18. Families will be notified in early May if their child was accepted. 

The number of available spots for the 2022-2023 is limited, and students will be selected using a lottery system. Generally, the majority of families applying are accommodated.
