Learning Focus
Math-Unit 5:
In this unit, students explore the whole in fractions as well as adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers. Students use these computation skills to answer questions about line plots. They are also introduced to adding tenths and hundredths. Students build on their knowledge of rays to explore unit iteration for angles.
Reading- UNIT 4-Eureka! Student Inventor
During the Unit 4 Quest, students read informational texts, pulling evidence and details
to support arguments. Reading activities are concentrated in the first half of this unit.
Students will read biographical articles about eight inventors, detailed histories of
important inventions, and scientific explanations of simple machines.
