School Reminders

 

  • Please remember to send your child to school with a water bottle and their Chromebook.

  • Being at school and being on time is very important.

  • The district's attendance goal is 95%, and the school was at 96% for the month of August.

 

How to Help at Home

 

Reading

  • Have your child read at home daily for about 20 minutes.

  • Ask your child to name a character from the story and tell you one thing about them.

Math

  • Practice math at home by playing free online math games on websites like www.mathisfun.com.

  • Play 'Go Fish' using a deck of cards to find combinations that equal 10.

  • Use coins to practice counting by 1s, 5s, and 10s.

  • Help your child make a grocery list and figure out how much everything will cost.

Other Activities

  • Go over the calendar date each day with your child by saying, "Yesterday was... Today is...".


 

Learning Objectives

 

CKLA/ELA/Knowledge

  • Students will be learning core vocabulary and about Early Asian Civilizations.

  • Students will make connections to other texts and their own experiences.

  • Students will use comprehension strategies to answer questions about a text and retell the text by describing the beginning, middle, and end.

CKLA/Phonics/Skills

  • Students will recall story details and discuss the structure of the story (beginning, middle, and end).

  • Students will review letter sounds, write words as they sound, and practice reading aloud with accuracy and expression.

  • Students will be assigned weekly spelling/tricky words for assessments.

Writing

  • Students will be writing narratives and will introduce characters, a setting, and what happens in the beginning, middle, and end.

Math

  • Students will re-establish math routines.

  • Students will use number lines, number grids, and practice skip counting, odd and even numbers, and finding different ways to make 10.

  • Students will build fact fluency by finding combinations of 10.

PBIS

  • The acronym PBIS stands for Property, Others, Ourselves, Learning.
