Dress Code

Little Fort Staff in accordance with District 60 Uniform School Board Policy 6041 expects that all students will come to school appropriately dressed in uniform attire. The only exceptions to uniform day are: Picture Day in which students wear their best attire, Spirit Days designated by the office, and specific educational field trips (ie: the Pond, Forest Preserve).

Little Fort administration reserves the right to adhere to district discipline policy if students are not inproper district approved dress code.

ACCEPTABLE
Navy blue or khaki jumpers,skirts, shorts, capris, or pants
White shirt or blue shirt with collar tucked in at waist
Little Fort spirit-wear t-shirt (purchased through Little Fort)
Plain blue or white turtlenecks, sweaters, and sweatshirts without a hood
Leggings and tights must be navy blue or white and may only be worn under a jumper, skirt.
Appropriate school shoes. Gym shoes MUST BE worn for gym.

UNACCEPTABLE
Jeans or skinny pants
T-shirts
Tops with words, pictures, designs, or colors
Sweat pants (may be worn underneath skirts and jumpers on cold days but must be removed once students enter class)
Hooded sweatshirts
Open-toed shoes, sandals/flip-flops
Girls’ shoes with heels or wedges
Shoes with wheels or cleats

Examples of unacceptable wear:

  • Tops with spaghetti straps.
  • Tops whose neckline falls below an imaginary horizontal line drawn between the two armpits.
  • Halter tops, tube tops, one shoulder tops.
  • Tops whose bottom hem does not overlap with the pants/skirt/shorts.
  • Shorts or skirts that do not cover to mid-thigh. Another guideline is that skirt/shorts should not be shorter than 6 inches from mid knee.
  • Shorts, skirts or pants that are worn in a manner that does not completely cover undergarments.
  • Boys pants must be worn at the waist, boxer shorts must not be showing.
  • Clothing that is so tightly fitted or so sheer that it reveals undergarments.
  • Flip Flops

Special Occasions:
Clubs, or teachers conducting special events and wish that their groups of students be out of dress code to participate must have approval by the administration and if approved, email the entire staff of the date. A student that has been approved by Administration to be out of dress code will have a dress code pass.
