Please have your child read for at least 20 minutes daily.
Ask your child questions about what they read.

Learning Objectives
Reading:
Students are reading and learning about the early exploration of North America. They are discovering the reasons for exploring new worlds, the supporters for the explorations, and the discoveries that were made.
Writing:
Students will be writing opinion and explanation pieces about their discoveries during their study of early exploration of North America
Science:
Students will explore current events in social studies by reading Scholastic News and participating in activities related to their learning.
Social Studies:
Students are learning about a variety of explorers and the reasons for their exploring new places. This will lead into the formation of North America and its countries as we know it today.
Math:
Students will be reviewing and applying the math skills they have been learning during this school year. They will do this through math games and problem solving activities.
Students will engage in collaborative conversations and mastery based activities to explore the new world and the different opportunities that exist.
They will locate major landforms and bodies of water on a map that separate one place from another that explorers encountered. They will also understand and show how consumption of products connects people to distant places
