Representatives from TriO Educational Talent Search at CLC gave a presentation about the organization's work with Waukegan High School students.


Action Items

The Board of Education voted to approve the amendments to policy 8002-2021, COVID Health and Safety, as set forth for second reading. Board policy 8002-2021 requires review every six months, in alignment with the ESSER III grant review.  First reading occurred on February 8, 2022.  Second reading was extended due to anticipated changes in CDC guidance and court action on challenges to the authority of the Illinois Department of Public Health and Illinois State Board of Education as well as the Governor to issue emergency rules or executive orders involving face coverings and vaccination or test programs.  CDC guidelines were updated on February 25, 2022 and the Illinois Supreme Court vacated the lower court's temporary restraining order otherwise restricting the ability of the parties to the case to implement mask or vaccine/test programs. 

The Board of Education voted to authorize payment for new ceiling installation and new lighting at Waukegan High School, Washington Campus, payable to Happ Builders Inc. and Krause Electrical Contractors, totaling $64,618.




Personnel Items

The Board of Education voted to approve the appointments, resignations and retirements of 10 employees. 

The Board of Education voted to approve the attendance of Ms.Tasia Fields, Director of Equity and Inclusion, Bari Schwartz, Equity PD Specialist, and Sandi Johnson, Principal Equity Liaison to attend the UnboundED Standards Institute to be held in Las Vegas, NV March 27 - April 1. The estimated cost is $18,000 total and includes Registration, Travel, Hotel Accommodations, and Per Diem for each staff member.

The Board of Education voted to approve the attendance of Ms.Tasia Fields, Director of Equity and Inclusion, and department staff, Carolina Fabian, FACE Coordinator, Angela Ramirez, Parent Manager, Eric Thompson School outreach facilitator, Dyonna Kelly, Family & Community Liaison to attend the National Community Schools and Family Engagement Conference to be held in Los Angeles, CA May 30- June 3, 2022. The estimated cost is $13,000. and includes; Registration, Travel, Hotel Accommodations, and Per Diem.

The Board of Education voted to approve the attendance of Theresa Plascencia at the New Era Superintendents at the ASU+GSV Summit on April 4 to 6 in San Diego, at an estimated cost of $400, which includes travel incidentals and per diem costs. Participating Superintendents will receive a full scholarship to the event, including airfare, four nights lodging, and full registration for the ASU+GSV Summit and the New Era Superintendents program.


Information Items

Staff presented information related to the District's Post Issuance Compliance Report. As the issuer of outstanding tax-exempt and tax-advantaged bonds, WPS60 must monitor and comply with a number of post issuance obligations under federal tax law in order to maintain the tax exempt and/or tax-advantaged status of the bonds.  WPS60 has worked closely with bond counsel regarding post-issuance compliance matters, including the preparation of checklists to assist WPS60 monitor compliance.
