Special Recognitions and Presentations

The Board of Education read a proclamation recognizing February 7-11 as National School Counseling Week. 

The Board of Education voted to approve the recommended appointments of Ms. June Maguire and Ms. Ennedy Rivera to the Ethics Commission for terms through November 30, 2023. The Ethics Commission was created pursuant to a Board Resolution of June 8, 2004, and the requirements of 5 ILCS 430/70-5 to consider any complaints pertaining to Gift Ban Act and Prohibited Political Activity issues related to Board members or school employees.


Action Items

The Board of Education voted to formally appoint Joanna Gutierrez as its 2022 Student Board Member, replacing Isam Hussaini, and recognize the Oath of Office taken by her on January 25, 2022.

The Board of Education voted to renew the contract with Agility Recovery. The three (3) year contract term for recurring services begins on January 01, 2022 and ends December 31, 2025. The cost of the contract is $24,759 or $8,253 annually. Agility Recovery is a business continuity solution after an unexpected business interruption.  Waukegan Schools has been under contract with Agility Recovery since May 2013.

The Board of Education voted to approve the Facility Rental Waiver Request for KAPPA CHI LAMBDA Educational Foundation. KAPPA CHI LAMBDA is requesting that all fees pertaining to their Project Alpha Event that is scheduled to be held on February 26, 2022. The total value of the fee waiver is $606

The Board of Education voted to approve the three year renewal of EAB District Leadership Forum in the amount of $32,475 for year 1. The Academic and Support Programs (ASAP) Team is requesting the three year renewal of the EAB District Leadership Forum.  The annual membership costs will increase by 2% in Y2 and Y3.  Attached is an example of a project EAB assisted the district with related to exploring CTE pathways at the High School. 

The Board of Education voted to approve the renewal of Abre Family and Community Engagement Solution in the amount of $32,252.

The Board of Education voted to approve and authorize the Superintendent to sign a contract extension document with Illinois Central. The proposed contract has a 5% increase from FY2021-2022.  The increased amount of 5% equates to $392,193.  The total estimated contract value will be $8,236,038 for the 2022-2023 school year.


Personnel Items

The Board of Education voted to approve the appointments, resignations and retirements of 16 employees. 

The Board of Education voted to approve the attendance of Mr. Mitchell Riportella to attend the 2022 National Schools Public Relations Association's National Seminar in Chicago, Illinois, from July 17 to July 20 at an estimated cost of $2,150. Cost includes seminar registration, lodging and per diem.

The Board of Education voted to approve Tasha London, Coordinator of Crisis Intervention, to attend the CPI APS ICP with Trauma Blend training in Elk Grove IL. The training will be held from March 2, 2022-March 4, 2022. The estimated cost is $5258.50 which includes registration, mileage and meals per diem.

The Board of Education voted to approve Carolina Fabian, FACE Coordinator, to attend the National ESEA Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana, on February 15 to 19, 2022. The total estimated cost is $2,800, which includes registration, travel, lodging, meals, and per diem.
