The Board of Education voted to purchase the renewal of the Learning A to Z platform. K to 5 teachers need Learning A to Z to support our students in the amount of $106,970. The Teaching and Learning Department needs to purchase the renewal of the Learning A to Z platform. K to 5 teachers need Learning A to Z to support our students.  It is aligned with our district curriculum map and supports our biliteracy curricula in general.

The Board of Education voted to approve the purchase of a three year agreement with School Links in the amount of $200,989.

The Board of Education voted to approve the planning and development of the K-12 College and Career Center at AOEC in the amount of $52,373.

The Board of Education voted to approve the furniture purchase from Silver Street Inc. for the AOEC College and Career Prep Center. The estimated cost is $42,823.

The Board of Education voted to approve Capital Improvement Committee Recommendations for Project Design.

The Board of Education voted to approve the fee waiver request for Panthers FC Soccer. The Panthers are requesting use of the gym at Cooke Magnet School to hold their weekly soccer practices. The total amount of the fee waiver is $720.

The Board of Education voted to approve the fee waiver request from Cesar Reyes, a volunteer coach for the Illinois Youth Soccer Association. Mr. Reyes is requesting that all fees be waived pertaining to their scheduled practice days at Clearview Elementary. All practices will be held in the gym. The total combined value of the waiver is $4,576.

The Board of Education voted to approve the partial fee waiver request for the Lake County Community Concert Association (LCCCA) 2022 Concerts. The combined total of the three waivers is $4,124.

The Board of Education voted to approve the fee waiver request from the Dragons Soccer Team to use the gym at Abbott MS on Tuesdays and Thursdays for soccer practice. The total value of the waiver request is $2,784.

The Board of Education voted to authorize the Superintendent's approval to abate the annual payment for the 2016 Qualified School Construction Bond (QSCB) in the amount of $500,000.

The Board of Education voted to approve the purchase of 36 new computers for custodians. The estimated cost of the units recommended by the ITS department is $44,244.

The Board of Education voted to approve payment for emergency containment and removal of asbestos containing ceiling and to approve a local contractor to install a new ceiling in the space at WHS-Washington Campus. The estimated cost is $48,940.

The Board of Education voted to approve Midwest Service Group as the recommended contractor for Asbestos Abatement in the Waukegan High School - Washington Campus Girls Locker Room. The estimated total is $38,845.

The Board of Education voted to approve the foundation repairs at AOEC. The estimated cost is $29,336.

The Board of Education voted to approve the purchase and installation of forty (40) water bottle fillers throughout the District. The estimated cost is $39,704.

The Board of Education voted to approve the purchase of new lunch tables at Abbott, Juarez, Smith, Lewis and Benny middle schools for a total amount of $204,062.

The Board of Education voted to approve the purchase of classroom desks and chairs for Little Fort Elementary School. The estimated cost is $140,879.

The Board of Education voted to approve the third finalized Statement of Work for mechanical improvements at multiple school locations. This third Statement of Work is 21% of the total gross maximum price, $10,757,815 ($2,210,541) which was approved at the June 22, 2021 Board meeting and includes mechanical work to be completed at Little Fort Elementary, North Elementary, John Clark Elementary, and Miguel Juarez Middle School.

The Board of Education voted to renew the Palo Alto firewall license for 1 year. The total cost is $229,000. This license is for global protect/VPN, wildfire high availability, threat prevention, URL filtering, premium support protection for both 5260 located at Lincoln Center and Brookside Campus.  

The Board of Education voted to  approve the Contract renewal with Fulcrum Management Solutions Inc. the company that owns Thought Exchange, an enterprise discussion management. The contract term is from 11/01/2021-11/30/2022. The total cost is $26,460.

The Board of Education voted to approve the purchase of ReadyGen resources for unit three to support our curriculum maps for Kindergarten through grade five in the amount of $158,165.

The Board of Education voted to approve the purchase of text resources for unit three to support curriculum maps for Kindergarten through grade five in the amount of $316,052.

The Board of Education voted to he Metasys Programming upgrade to Johnson Controls in the amount of 39,281. The purpose is to enhance our old systems that will allow them to work with our new hardware controlling the ventilation. 

The Board of Education voted to approve the purchase of a new playground for Washington Elementary School. The playground will be purchased from Team Rail, an approved cooperative in Illinois for the sum of $66,699. 

The Board of Education voted to approve payment for the yearly contract for Filewave MDM software. Filewave is the product that the district uses to remotely "push" and manage all software and apps for all district iPad's and staff devices.  The cost of the yearly contract renewal is $75,120.

 

Personnel Items

The Board of Education voted to approve the attendance of Anita Hanna at the 2022 National School Board Association's (NSBA) Advocacy Institute from January 23 to January 25 in Washington D.C. at an estimated cost of $2,400. Cost includes conference registration, lodging, per diem and flights.

The Board of Education voted to approve the attendance of Jeff McBride at the 2022 San Diego County Office of Education Equity Conference on January 20 to 21, in San Diego, California at the estimated cost of $1,500. Cost includes conference registration, airfare, lodging and per diem.

The Board of Education voted to approve an additional four (4) Culture/Climate Specialists positions to support the High School in the approximate amount of $220,000 plus benefits. It is the recommendation of the Administration that we hire 2 culture climate specialists for Brookside Campus and 2 culture climate specialists for Washington Campus. This will help support student interventions and supports for attendance, behavior, discipline, and social-emotional needs. Approximate salary for each FTE is $55,000 plus benefits and the positions will have a June 30, 2022, close date.

The Board of Education voted to approve the appointment, resignations and salary adjustments of nine employees.
