Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 joins school districts across Illinois today in celebrating “School Board Members’ Day.”


The annual event, which corresponds with National Education Week, celebrates and thanks the unpaid volunteers who serve school districts across the state for the benefit of their stakeholders, and provide a voice for the communities they represent. Board Members’ Day is celebrated annually on November 15. The theme of this year’s event is “Inspiration and Leadership.”  


“Our Board dedicates countless hours to serve our District and help to improve the lives of our staff and students,” said Superintendent of Schools Theresa Plascencia. “Their guidance is a crucial element of the success of our District, and we are fortunate to have such committed and passionate individuals in these roles.”


The Board of Education for Waukegan Community Unit School District # 60 includes: Board President Mr. Brandon Ewing (fifth year of service), Vice President Mr. Rick Riddle (seventh year), Senior Board Member Ms. Anita Hanna (26 years), Mr. Jeff McBride (12 years of combined service), Ms. Charlotte Callahan Wozniak (sixth year of service), and Ms. Lucy Leguizamo (third year of service and Ms. Adriana Gonzalez (first year of service).
