Dear Families and Staff,
This week we officially unveiled a new tool to help families and staff stay up-to-date with how COVID-19 cases are impacting Waukegan Public Schools. Our COVID-19 Data Hub is a public document that provides a daily summary of COVID-19 cases in our schools, as well as daily summary of how many students are receiving quarantine instruction.
The Data Hub does not replace the COVID Impact Case letters that parents and staff receive when there is a COVID case at a building. Those notices will continue to be sent in a timely manner. This is, however, another transparent tool for our stakeholders to keep track of how COVID is impacting our buildings.
Information on the dashboard is updated every 24-48 hours with the most current data on the top of the chart. We will continue to evaluate the data shared on the Hub, and will make updates if necessary. Below is important information from the website explaining how information is reported.
COVID Data: The COVID numbers listed on the chart represent cases that have been investigated by our building impact investigators (contacts tracers). These are instances where an individual who tested positive was in building one or more days of the contagion period. These cases may correspond with students or staff. The dates listed generally correspond with the completion of an impact investigation by contact tracers.
Quarantine Instruction Data: The chart lists the number of students Districtwide who are designated to receive quarantine instruction on any given day. The data begins from the inception of our Quarantine Supports Plan on September 13, 2021, and generally includes students who are identified as close contacts to any COVID-positive individual, as well as those students who have tested positive for COVID. A student will typically show up in the count for 10-14 calendar days.

Datos COVID: Los números de COVID listados en la gráfica representan los casos que han sido investigados por nuestros investigadores de impacto al edificio (rastreadores de contacto). Estos son los instantes en cual un individuo que tuvo una prueba positiva estuvo en el edificio un día o más en el periodo de contagio. Estos casos pueden corresponder a estudiantes o personal. Las fechas listadas generalmente corresponden con la terminación de una investigación de impacto por los rastreadores de contacto.
Datos de Instrucción en Cuarentena: La gráfica lista el número de estudiantes al nível del Distrito que se les ha designado recibir instrucción en cuarentena en determinado día. Los datos comienzan desde la inspección de nuestro Plan de Apoyos en Cuarentena el 13 de septiembre del 2021, y generalmente incluye a estudiantes que han sido identificados como contactos cercanos a cualquier individuo positivo a COVID, además de esos estudiantes que han dado positivo a COVID. Típicamente un estudiante va a salir en el conteo por 10 a 14 días de calendario.
