Dear Families,
Last month Governor Pritzker announced that all school employees in Illinois must be vaccinated against COVID-19 or be tested weekly. The mandate requires that those working in our schools, including contracted employees and regular volunteers, be vaccinated or submit to weekly screening.
I’m writing today to let you know that our District has worked with our bargaining units to establish a process by which staff will verify their vaccination status, or participate in regular COVID testing. We’ve spoken for months about the importance of the COVID-19 vaccine. This initiative for our staff is a major step toward further ensuring the safety of our school communities.
This mandate only impacts staff. At this time there is no vaccination requirement for students. That said, we continue to encourage all parents of students who are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine to please consider vaccinating their children.
Beginning this week staff, contracted employees and regular volunteers will be required to verify that they have been vaccinated for COVID-19, or they will need to participate in regular COVID-19 testing. Our District is working with State and local partners to establish a regular testing process in which unvaccinated staff and students can participate. Details of that plan will be shared when they are finalized.

Mensaje de WPS60: Requisitos de vacunación para el personal
Estimadas familias,
El mes pasado el Gobernador Pritzker anunció que todos los empleados escolares en Illinois deben estar vacunados contra COVID-19 o hacerse una prueba semanalmente. El mandato requiere que aquellos que trabajan en nuestras escuelas, incluidos los empleados subcontratados y los voluntarios habituales, se vacunen o se sometan a una prueba semanalmente.
Les escribo hoy para informarle que nuestro Distrito ha trabajado con nuestras unidades de negociación para establecer un proceso mediante el cual el personal verificará su estado de vacunación o participación en pruebas regulares de COVID. Hemos hablado durante meses sobre la importancia de la vacuna COVID-19. Esta iniciativa para nuestro personal es un gran paso adelante para garantizar aún más la seguridad de nuestras comunidades escolares.
Este mandato sólo afecta al personal. En este momento no hay ningún requisito de vacunación para los estudiantes. Dicho esto, continuamos alentando a todos los padres de estudiantes que son elegibles para la vacuna COVID-19 a que por favor consideren vacunar a sus hijos.
A partir de esta semana, el personal, los empleados subcontratados y los voluntarios regulares se les requerirá verificar si han sido vacunados contra el COVID-19, o deberán participar en las pruebas de COVID-19 con regularidad. Nuestro Distrito está trabajando con socios Estatales y locales para establecer un proceso regular de pruebas en el cual el personal no vacunado y estudiantes puedan participar. Los detalles de ese plan se compartirán cuando estén finalizados.
