Dear Parents,

Last week we announced that we are committed to remaining in a 100 percent Remote Learning environment through at least February 15. Planning has been long underway for the eventual return of students into our classrooms, however. An important part of this planning process is determining how many students we can expect in our buildings as we gradually transition from Remote Learning to Hybrid Learning, where students will engage in both in-person and remote learning.

In October, many of you completed a questionnaire asking about your preference for your child. Today we want to offer an opportunity for parents to update their responses, and also allow those of you who have not yet responded to do so. Parents can access the survey here.

District staff have worked with our bargaining units to ensure we collaboratively create school and classroom environments that are safe, comfortable and conducive to learning and teaching. Parents should know that classroom environments will look different than everyone is used to, with increased health, safety and sanitation measures, fewer students in each room and social distancing requirements throughout our buildings.

At this time, no date has been set for the resumption of in-person instruction, and no transition will be made without at least two weeks notice for parents. In our Hybrid stages, students will attend school twice a week with all students participating in Remote Instruction on Fridays. Students will be assigned to one of the two shifts, with every effort being made to ensure siblings are in the same shift.

We understand that some families are still uneasy about returning to an in-person environment, and as we have stated in the past, during a hybrid environment parents may request to have their children continue with Remote Learning at home. It is important, however, that we know each family's choice, so that we can better prepare our facilities. Parents are asked to please fill out this questionnaire by January 22.

Once again, no date has been established for the return of any in-person instruction, but having this information will greatly assist us as we continue to plan.

Sincerely,

Theresa Plascencia

Cuestionario de Instrucción en Persona Para Padres

Estimados Padres,

Atentamente,

Theresa Plascencia
