Waukegan High School will broadcast its 147th commencement exercise at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, May 29. An expected class of more than 950 students will make up Waukegan High School’s Class of 2020.

 

The Class of 2020 virtual graduation has been prerecorded, to include student messages, staff messages, musical performances, and a reading of all graduate names. The video will be released at 5:30 p.m. on May 29 on Waukegan Public Schools’ Youtube channel and Facebook page. Students and families will be notified of any changes in scheduling.

 

Facts about the Class of 2020:

 

A Class of more than 950 students is expected to graduate on Friday, May 29. 


This year’s graduates have earned scholarships totaling more than $29 million.

 

102 graduates are members of the National Honor Society.

 

A total of 296 students will graduate with Summa Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude or Cum Laude distinction.  


The Class of 2020 completed more than 2,900 college applications to a total of 501 colleges nationally and internationally.

 

Twenty-five students were selected as Illinois State Scholars by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission.


37 students completed coursework, which earned them dual credit at WHS and the College of Lake County.


A total of 284 graduates completed more than 610 combined Advanced Placement courses.

Class of 2020 Salutatorian is: Isabelle Flores

 

Other top 10 students: Alexander Borland, Raniya Dailey, Edwin Felipe-Pozo, April Greider, Syed Hussaini, Albert Ilagan, Elisa Marban and Alexandro Zelaya.
