Applications are now available for parents wishing to enroll their children in Waukegan’s Andrew Cooke Magnet School for the Fine Arts and Sciences in the fall. Testing applications for kindergarten are available online here. Limited seats are also available for students entering grades 1-5. Those applications are available here. Applications are also available at Cooke, 522 Belvidere Road. The deadline to complete an application is 3 p.m. on Friday, March 20.

Attendance is open to any kindergarten through 5th grade child living within Waukegan Public Schools’ boundaries. Cooke is a fine arts-focused elementary school, with a curriculum rich in art, music and science. Cooke students are introduced to drama, dance and musical instruments in first grade.

Following the application process, students will be required to take a placement test. Placement tests are planned late April. Testing will take approximately 60 minutes and will be offered during the day and after school hours.
