The Board of Education for Waukegan Community Unit School District # 60  appointed Waukegan High School Junior, Van Weddle, as its newest Student Board Member on December 17. 

Van is a Cadet 1SG in JROTC, a member of the school’s Drama Club, and the secretary of the Black Student Union. He will replace current Student Board Member Austin Cantu, and who will complete his year-long term in January.

Van said one of his primary goals as Student Board Member is to represent all students and ensure everyone has a voice in how the school, and the school district operate.
