Parent-Teacher Conferences on November 6 & 7
Posted on 11/05/2019

Waukegan Public Schools’ Parent-Teacher conferences will take place on November 6 and 7. Conferences will be held from approximately 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. each evening. Parents with questions about conferences should contact their child’s school.

These meetings are primarily designed to give parents a better understanding of their child’s grades and classroom behavior, as well as help identify areas of improvement both academically and socially. Knowing what to expect from a Parent-Teacher conference will benefit both you and your student, and allow you to make the most of your allotted time.

During these meetings, teachers will present report cards, test scores and other relevant data pertaining to your child’s academic performance and social and emotional well-being. Because this can seem like a lot of information to process in one sitting, parents are encouraged to ask clarifying questions. At the conclusion of their conversation, Parents and teachers should have a better understanding of the student’s strengths, weaknesses, as well as any other external factors affecting their academics. The better both parties are able to understand the various circumstances surrounding their child’s education, the better teachers are able to formulate effective plans moving forward.

Parents are also encouraged to exchange contact information with their teacher, so they may regularly follow up on their child’s progress. Interested parents are also welcome to ask for information on joining the Parent Teacher Organization, receiving your parent portal password, taking the 5 Essentials survey, as well as signing up for volunteer opportunities.
