Pay to Ride Applications Available
Posted on 07/12/2019
Waukegan Community Unit School District # 60 is accepting Pay-to-Ride bus applications for students that do not currently qualify for the district's bus service.  Under the service, parents can pay a fee to have their children ride the school bus to and from school each day.

Currently, bus service is only available to students that live more than 1.5 miles from school, and kindergarten and 1st graders that live more than .5 miles from their school, as well as special education students who live less than 1.5 miles whose IEP stipulates transportation is required. The Pay-to-Ride service is available to all students that attend their neighborhood school, and live between .5 and 1.49 miles from school.

Transportation is only to and from the home address. Daycare transportation is not available. Additionally, students that attend a school other than their neighborhood school due to Parent Voluntary Transfers, do not qualify for the service

The fee is $2.25 per day, and parents have the option of paying per quarter, per semester, or paying for a full year’s service. A full year cost is $396. Pay-to-Ride service is based on the availability of bus routes, and space upon those routes, as well as adherence to the District's Bus Ridership Rules.

All parents wishing to begin Pay-to-Ride services on the first day of the 2019-2020 school year must submit their application and payment by August 9. Any parents who sign up after this date will have to wait until their application is processed.

Parents interested in signing up for the service may visit the Transportation & Child Nutrition Office at Lincoln Center, or an application can be downloaded here. For additional information, parents can contact Transportation & Child Nutrition at 224-303-3801.
